Merce Cunningham and Sigur Ros

Merce Cunningham obviously was very influential in the art of dance, but also all of the arts. It was interesting to read about how he enjoyed using spontaneity and randomness in his performances. Two qualities one doesn't normally associate with dance. He lived, breathed, ate and dreamed dance. I watched videos of him still teaching in his world famous dance company up until the very end of his life. He had recently started these weekly podcasts called 'Mondays with Merce.'

They would show interviews with Merce and video of him teaching to the students of the dance company.

Sigur Ros
I went on the Sigur Ros website to read all about the band. I like how honest and frank they are about everything. It appears they started to get recognized in the United States around the second half of 2000. They signed with the MCA Records, not because they were offering the most cash, but because they were offering the most artistic freedom. It talked about how their lead singer Jón þór Birgisson (nickname Jónsi) sings in Hopelandic. It is a made up language that he improvises on when they want to sing the melodies but don't have the lyrics yet. Sometimes they just keep Jónsi's gibberish in the songs. I was wondering if I had ever heard some of their music before and found out they had a song at the end of the movie “Vanilla Sky.” The song is called “The Nothing Song”
