Midterm Responses

Ernesto—Visual Immersion, very nice Power Point. You really got the point across about visual immersion. I like how you incorporated sound and video into your presentation. You were able to work through the technical difficulties without a problem. 10

Donna—Learning Modalities, very detailed study. It took lots of time and effort for you to coordinate the study through SL and lots of patience to work with us all! 10

John—Evidence of Frustration. Your project about frustration is intriguing. I think there are lots of implications. I like the collaborative element of your project. I also like your varied interests. As others have said, definitely think about patenting and marketing it! The only suggestion I have is your presentation could have been a little more organized. 9

Ray—Web Presence. I like how your project has direct applications to your interests and life. I think it shows that you recognize the power and potential of digital culture. You made some nice enhancements to your site and I think it will prove to be the good marketing tool you envision it being. 8

Matt—Terminal Tips, I like how you laid everything out step by step. I’m not a computer person, but your explanations were easy to understand. You had great tips and gave us valuable information. It was very informative, enlightening, and useful especially since you showed how everything can be linked together. 10

Aaron—Digital Website project, I like how you’ve treated your project as something that will definitely help you later on. Web design skills are often highly valued and I like how you’re organizing your work and accomplishments. 9

Diego—Digital Culture Video, your selected videos provided a humourous, interesting and relevant look at digital culture and its development. I think that you’ve expressed digital culture well through your project. I know how time-consuming working with video is. 10

Kevina—Youtubing presentation, I like how you incorporated a lot of different things into your homepage. I agree with you that Youtube has become a form of communication and a fundamental part of digital culture. I would have liked to see a few more specific examples, but good job overall! 9

Alberto—Linux, Flash. Your Flash movies were humorous and for teaching yourself, they came out really well. I think that it is always hard to learn a new program, especially if you use that new program to create a project. 10

Wayne—Telepresence, I think it’s cool that you decided to try different digital media such as Twitter and Facebook. Tracing how things evolve over time is a good way to examine digital culture. A video collage of a collage is a cool idea. “Ambulatory collage” is a cool idea. I wouldn’t be surprised if it is a term that catches on! 9

Tiva—Vocaloid, I like how you demonstrated the natural and synthetic voices. It’s amazing how close the synthetic voices are to natural ones. I grew up with anime etc so hearing your presentation brought back memories of my childhood! I think I may have to try some of what you’ve done because it looks super interesting. 10

Nicola—you gave a good overview and rationale of your project. I like how it is pertinent to a real-world issue. Including GoogleEarth map was a good way to visually show directions and help the viewer situate themselves. I’d work on your video recording technique as the jerkiness of the camera made me dizzy, but over all I liked your project. Inspiration is a cool program and you also told us about some free alternatives. 9

Teresa—Website, SL scripting, you did a good job in walking us through your website and your SL scripting. I like your website design and image. I’ll have to ask you how you did it because it’s something I’d like to do something similar for my toon. 10

Chris—Animated Gif file, I’ve always wondered how people make these and it’s cool to finally learn how. I’d definitely like to see more of them as you present your final project! 8

Erin—Blog, I like how you’ve decided to concentrate on text and font. I think it’s something that is often overlooked or ignored. Everyone concentrates on pretty graphics, but I feel that they forget the power of text and font. Your blog is a good resource and I think there is great promise in your ideas as you continue working on your final project. I also think that your interest in fonts will definitely set you apart from a lot of other people. 10

David—Website/blog, I like how you’re aiming to make your blog an interactive tool. Using your blog as a way to connect benefits the kids and their families. I like how you’re plugging into digital culture and using it as a tool to help people. 10

Namon—Website, looked very slick, I like how you went through every category and explained them. Your website design was well done also. It wasn’t cluttered and looked dynamic and interesting. You did a great job with it! 10

Collins—Blender, it was cool how you decided to teach yourself a new program. The step by step explanation was very helpful and informative. I’m looking forward to seeing more 3D creations for your final. However, the audio for your presentation was distracting. 9
