Reviews

To start, writing reviews was really difficult. After all, people can take it very personally and I didn't want to come off as harsh. My reviews are in no way a reflection of the person or their personality only their project. I didn't give everyone a 10 because I wanted it to actually mean something.

Ernesto - 10

Ernesto's project was really interesting. He had a large amount of material and was very thorough in discussing how design and technology integrate, and how it comes from the past. I thought he incorporated everything from the readings very well.

Donna Davis - 10

I found Donna's presentation to be very interesting. I thought it was great how she incorporated our class into the presentation. I know personally, I scored low on spatial intelligence and low on presence, so I found it interesting that the correlation she believes is causation applies to me personally. I also thought it was interesting how she discussed online relationships.

John O'Hearn - 8

John's racing site looks like it has serious potential but it isn't finished. I think the website and the blog should be linked together so it seems like one continuous site. I loved his evidence of frustration it seems like the kind of funny site you kill time on. I hope to see some actual races included in his racing site for the final.

Ray Parkinson - 7

He definitely had a good basis, however his project is missing alot of content . He made some good videos but they weren't properly integrated into the site. I really hope to see his site expanded on and finished for the final.

Aaron Binder - 8

I wasn't very impressed with the website itself, however the work presented was excellent. You can tell that he put alot of work into the videos and the stop motion in particular was excellent. The maya film was definitely interesting and his pictures looked professional.

Diego Cabrera - 10

I really liked his video, he had alot of excellent content and his blend of audio and video really was magnificent. It fully utilized the readings in the sense of discussing the future several years in the past. I enjoyed watching it. My only real complaint was how long it took to load, but really that's not his fault

Kevina - 7

Kevina's project felt like it had potential but I don't think she took it all the way. The website was very interesting but she didn't put any of her own videos on it. She incorporated the readings very well, and I hope to see her expand on this project for her final.

Alberto - 10

I really liked how he switched to linux, I found that to be impressive and intriguing. I also really liked his flash videos. Alot of people haven't had much experience with flash don't realize it but it takes alot of effort to make videos of the quality of his. I thought his videos were very comical and seem like the kind of thing i'd watch on the internet. I had already given him a 10 after I saw the flash videos and then I saw his blog. I thought his presentation was absolutely phenomenal.

Wayne - 9

Wayne's project was similar to the stuff we do every day, however it was interesting because he was just learning about them for the first time. It was also interesting how he planned on integrating what he's learned in this class with his teaching. He put together some interesting videos that fit very well together with the class. I liked his idea of an abulatory collage. Also whether or not he realized it, coining a term is a very common part of digital culture. Terms are coined every day on the internet.

Nate - 10

Nate was incredibly enthusiastic about his project. I really liked his video, it was very well laid out. Sidenote, Green Day is one of my favorite bands of all time, so hearing them makes me slightly biased... Really though, the music fit the video very well and his use of text kept the story going. I think it worked very well for him because he was using an interface that he was used to (World of Warcraft). You can definitely tell alot of work went into his project especially with the fading between scenes. I had also never heard of machinima and I think its a very interesting art-form. His blog was also very interesting, you can tell he has alot of very high quality content.

Tiva - 9

I thought vocaloid was a fascinating app. It was interesting to see how technology varies based on geographic location. In America we tend to focus on editing what is already real and things need to sound natural. In Japan natural is bad and things need to sound artificial. I'm personally not a fan of the japanese way, but it is interesting nonetheless. I really liked how she created her own song. She seemed to know alot about the subject and was truly interested in her work.

Nicola 10

First of all, I loved how she used inspiration in her project as apposed to powerpoint. I loved the layout of the concept map and how she presented it. The video itself was phenomenal, it was comically and really well played out. I loved how she faded between scenes and maps. I also thought the cameo made by Nate was hysterical. Just coming out of high school I was familar with FCAT and FLVS, and I was impressed with what she was doing with podcasts. I personally hated everything to do with the fcat, and I liked how she is trying to change how things are done.

Teresa - 9

I thought it was interesting how she compiled everything she's done on social networking with her website and it gave an accurate depiction of who she is. I liked how the projects were displayed on the site. I thought her pictures were very well done and the website as well laid out. I thought her second life scripting was interesting how she programmed the rock to work for her.

Chris - 7

I thought his animated GIF was very cool to watch and his website had alot of potential. I believe alot of work went into the gif, but he didn't share that. I'm interested to see what his website looks like when it is completed.

Erin - 9

I really liked her blog. I thought the idea of working with different typefaces was very intriguing and she seems to know alot about her subject. Her site had alot of content and was well laid out. She also incorporated the readings well in her inclusion of specific quotes from the text.

David - 10

I really liked how he teaches music to kids and integrated that into his project. He integrated many different digital tools to display what his kids have done. You can tell he's very enthusiastic about what he does and he's great at teaching them. He did a great job of using digital culture in his teaching. I felt bad that he was rushed in his presentation, but that wasn't his fault.

  1. My website was intended to be a "resource" website, not a personal one, unlike Aaron's or Teresa's. I apologize if I was unclear on that matter.
