Dane Rudhyar-The Father of Karmic Astrology
Born in the city of lights, Paris, France, on March 23, 1895, Dane Rudhyar would become a United States immigrants, and perhaps not unlike so many other early American immigrants, Dane Rudhyar died a legend. But the seeds for legend were being sown for years before Dane Rudhyar hightailed it into Ellis Island. In between periods of suffering through post-traumatic episodes of his first-hand knowledge of the gore of the First World War, Dane was a stellar student fascinated with philosophy, literature, the mystics, and naturally, astrology. It was the latter study that would one day make him famous in the world of astrology...even if not always understood.
To say that Dane Rudhyar saw astrology as a crock would be putting it mildly, but that doesn't mean that he didn't love astrology-he was immensely passionate about the craft. See, Dane Rudhyer saw modern day astrology as less modern day and more medieval. He wrote books with analyzed and explored astrology, and in his latter works, the ones that more closely proceeded his death on September 13, 1985 , call for a spiritual journey that will lead to a new age in astrology. The most famous astrologically/philosophical outlooks on astrology are his 1936 bookThe Astrology of the Personality, Person-Centered Astrology (1972), and The Astrology of Transformation (1972). And somewhere along the way of all this writing, astrologer Dane Rudhyar gave birth (well, as much as it is possible for an old French guy to give birth) to an new type of "out with the old, in with the new" astrology-it was called karmic astrology.
What Is Karmic Astrology?
Karmic astrology was Dane Rudhyar's baby. Now if you've picked up a newspaper lately, you've probably noticed a little something just a few "doors" down from the Funny Pages routinely referred to as "the daily horoscope." If you've actually had a chance to fit in a horoscope reading between checking out Garfield and Peanuts, then you already know that conventional astrology uses birth charts to make predictations on things like personality, work ethic, what "sign" will make a better mate, what you should have for dinner next Sunday, you know-the usual. Sound pretty straightforward, right?
Now take karmic astrology, on the other hand. Dane Rudhyar's astrology uses past lives to predict your fortune in this one. That's right, according to karmic astrology, what you did in your past life as a turn of the century Houston harlot can hurt you in the present year. Some of the factors that determine fortune according to karmic astrology include assets and liabilities, accounts payable, and accounts receiveable.
