Rhizome visit
Rhizome.org. as stated in class, seems a lot like our blog where people can post things relating to technology (and art). It seems that the site has a lot of influence of the 80s even though made in 1996. It has many abstract pieces. It does, though, have some influence from today. The most recent post from the music section involved compilation video of cats and pianos. It is supposed to be a version of Schoenberg Op. 11 Movements one, two, and three. It kind of reminds me of LOLcats. It was kind of funny to see people get their cats to lay on the piano or walk across it and have someone hold their the paws and play in an attempt to make a musical piece. One was even trying to bite the piano. The videos were pretty well compiled. The second movement cat version sounds kind of close to the original. I was not able to find the 1st or 3rd movement on youtube in their original versions for comparison. Below are the second movements in the original version and the cat version.
