the nephew of my late father's best friend Rafiq Egery arrived in town unexpectedly this weekend (to add uninvited might be read as inhospitable). He's been recording demos of his music onto his cell phone. Their abbreviated nature works in his favor in terms of artistic quality. He's convinced that his destiny is to become the next Jack White or at least the Lebanese equivalent of same. In all hopes, "Edgy Ricky" doesn't have much time left on his visa (haven't been able to check the stamp yet). Does anyone know how to download audio off a cell phone?
there are several ways... you mite be able to do it wirelessly, [by either sending it to yourself via email or social network, or with a memory card (if the cellular provides)] or with a data cable that directly connects your cellular to a pc.
I figured we'd want to start a discussion for when to do our presentations. I figured we could start Friday during normal class hours and then finish up around 2. I think everyone should all respond in the comments with our thoughts. Remember if you don't use your voice you have no right to complain about the schedule after it's made.
Since we have no class on monday i expect that you will DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL pd-extended for your computer. BLOG with some insight on some of the topics i suggested. Steve Reich and Phase Music Phillip Glass and Music with changing parts Terry Riley and Minimal Music [IN C ] and Rainbow in Curved Air La Monte Young [DRONES] You are also expected to make at least 3 compositions using LOOPS that you either download from Freesond or visit one of the two sites for REMIX http://www.bush-of-ghosts.com/remix/bush_of_ghosts.htm http://remix.nin.com/ Make sure in your AUDACITY PROJECTS you use 1.) Speeding sounds up 2.) Slowing sound down 3.) An effect [REVERB, EQ, COmpression] 4.) Explore NORMALIZATION to -6db as we discussed in class 5.) make a cut, chop something and re-arrange it with audacity 6.) try phasing things **remember my examples about out of phase! Also please go and explore and DOWNLOAD an .mp3 from UBUWEB and convert it to a .wav or .aiff with ITUNES. Try to weave these things...
